Our Why

Who We Are
At NV Consulting, we believe every person holds worth, and every community holds wisdom. We exist to bring more dignity, care, and connection into the way programs are built, from the earliest ideas to everyday delivery

We support organizations working within complex systems and carrying real responsibility for human lives. Our partners include community-based organizations, nonprofits, behavioral health providers, for-profit partners, and federal, state, and local agencies, as well as justice-centered and prevention-focused systems.

We were created for organizations that want their work to feel grounded, responsive, and accountable to the people it is meant to serve.

“No one liberates anyone else, nor do we liberate ourselves alone. We liberate ourselves in communion with one another.”

— Paulo Freire

Nicole Valenzuela -
Rooted in her “Why”

Nicole Valenzuela is a community-rooted advocate whose work is deeply shaped by lived experience. As a Latina raised in underserved communities and a survivor of experiences and systems. Nicole brings not only professional expertise, but a personal understanding of what healing, resilience, and dignity and worth truly mean.

These experiences are not simply part of her story…they are the foundation of her “why.” They inform her commitment to designing programs that restore dignity, create safety, and center the voices of those with lived experience to develop solutions.

Nicole moves through the world as a listener and learner. You will find her grounded by the ocean, held by the trees, and nourished by art and music that feed the soul of the essence of who she is on life’s journey.

The Journey That Led Here

NV Consulting grew out of years spent working inside complex systems and witnessing both their potential and their limitations.

Across many spaces, a common pattern emerged. Communities were often asked to adapt to programs and policies that were not built with their histories, cultures, or lived experiences in mind. Efforts intended to help sometimes moved too quickly past the voices of the very people they were meant to serve.

Real change happens when strategy and community wisdom are brought into alignment. NV Consulting works at that intersection, helping organizations close the gap between intention and impact.

The starting point is always people.

At its core, this work is about restoring balance between strategy and humanity. Programs require structure, accountability, and measurable outcomes, but they also require trust, belonging, and the wisdom that comes from lived experience.

NV Consulting supports organizations in navigating that balance by blending community voice, humanized data, and evidence-informed frameworks.

Guided by evidence-informed frameworks including:

  • Community-Centered Program Development
  • Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF)
  • Shared Risk and Protective Factor Frameworks
  • Community Resilience Frameworks

These tools guide the process, but they are never the starting point.

The starting point is always people.

“Community is the solution to community problems.”
— Roberto Vargas

How We Work

Our work is rooted in social work values, lived experience, and a deep respect for community knowledge.

We partner with organizations to clarify vision, strengthen infrastructure, and translate ideas into practice, while protecting the humanity at the center of the work.

Our Approach

  • Healing-Centered
Recognizing resilience, connection, and the power of belonging.
  • Trauma-Informed
Prioritizing emotional, psychological, and cultural safety.
  • Community-Centered
Treating lived experience as essential expertise and honoring the knowledge that already exists within communities.

Capacity-building, for us, is an act of care.

When organizations are supported to grow with intention and integrity, communities are strengthened in ways that last beyond any single grant, initiative, or contract.

This work is relational. It requires humility, patience, and trust. We are honored to walk alongside those ready to build something more grounded, more connected, and more human.

Lasting solutions take root when communities feel safe to be heard and systems truly listen.
